Congratulations to newly-weds Gareth and Connie who made their wedding rings with me in the studio in May, and said 'I do' just a couple of weeks ago. Connie is a very talented papercutting artist (find her amazing creations online at www.thetinymaker.com) also based here in Swadlincote, and there is something so extra special about having the chance to share your craft with a local fellow maker. Gareth and Connie were a pleasure to teach, and made the most beautiful wedding rings. Connie used 9 carat yellow gold for her wedding ring, and the design had a twist and subtle curve so that it nestles perfectly next to her engagement ring. She chose a lovely smooth polished finish. Gareth chose...
In August, lovely couple Katy and Gareth joined me in the studio to make their wedding rings for their wedding at the end of September. They came to the studio a couple of months previously to discuss their bespoke wedding rings, and after looking through the samples I have in the studio they chose their designs. I then ordered their gold - where possible I used 100% recycled gold for wedding ring workshops - and we chose a date for them to return to make their rings. Katy chose a square profile 9 carat white gold ring to sit alongside her engagement ring, this was finished off with a very delicate hammered texture. Gareth opted for a two-tone ring made...
The studio has been a hive of activity recently with couples creating their wedding rings and making memories at my wedding ring workshops! It feels such a privilege to help couples create their wedding rings which will become such a personal and significant symbol of their upcoming marriage. Following on from our initial consultation, Chloe and Sam visited my studio in late May to make each other's wedding rings. Chloe chose 9ct yellow gold to match with her engagement ring and Sam chose silver. They both chose a hammered texture finish and personalised the inside of their rings by stamping their initials and wedding date. As part of the day, I took a set of photos for the couple to...
The studio has been busy with wedding ring making workshops recently, as couples prepare for their upcoming weddings this summer and autumn, taking a day out from the wedding planning and spending a quiet day together making their wedding rings. In May, Tom and Francesca travelled up from London to make their classic D profile wedding rings in 18ct yellow gold. They made each other's rings, and they opted to personalise their rings using letter stamping on the inside. After completing their wedding rings on the day, they were sent off to Birmingham Assay Office for hallmarking. Tom called in to collect the rings once they were hallmarked (it usually takes about 7-10 days for rings to be hallmarked). 18ct...
I am often asked if it is possible to personalise rings with stamping letters and numbers on the inside. So long as the rings are at least 2mm, this is possible, as I have letter and number stamps starting from 1.5mm in size. Fran and Joe created their beautiful sterling silver twist wedding rings, with their wedding date stamped onto the inside of the rings. Phil and Lee also personalised their 9ct rose gold rings with their wedding date, initials and also some personalised symbols. Penny & Karl added paw prints symbols to their rings because their three dogs are a central part of their family story. Darren & Lauren stamped a memorable romantic saying which...
