Silver wedding anniversary ring

It was great to welcome Donna back to the studio in July this year. In 2017 she brought her daughter, Mum and sister in law along for a silver jewellery making day to celebrate for her daughter Hannah's 21st birthday. It was a great occasion and they made several silver rings and bangles between them!

In August, Donna and her husband Matthew celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary, so Donna came to the studio in July to make Matthew a new wedding ring to mark the occasion. His old wedding ring was also a bit small, so she brought that with her too.

With it being their silver anniversary, Donna decided to use white gold for the new ring. But to make it extra special, we cut a small section from Matthew's original yellow gold wedding ring to include in the new ring. We enhanced the subtle colour change with a contrast of texture, hammered on the white gold part and smooth polish on the yellow gold. Then, we soldered the original ring back together, stretched and polished it to Matthew's current ring size. Two projects in one! I loved that a little bit of the original ring has been used in the new ring. Donna also stamped the inside with their wedding date and a little message. It was a lovely day with Donna who smiled and chatted throughout. And the good news? Matthew tried on his new ring and it fits perfectly! He started wearing it immediately rather than waiting for their anniversary!

Donna says:

"Thank you so much Louise... I had an amazing time with you again and your expert guidance soon put my nerves at ease! It’s pretty scary cutting up your husbands wedding ring but I knew that the finished ring would be beautiful. Matthew adores his new ring. Thanks again for such a special experience. I will be back."

"Thank you so very much for a wonderful afternoon. Thank you as well for helping me make my brief design ideas come to life. I know that Matthew will love his special ring as much as I do! Thanks again & I'll hopefully see you again soon. Donna x"
