This full day workshop experience offers a private, relaxed and friendly jewellery workshop experience for two people to enjoy side by side in my Derbyshire studio. Together, you’ll each design and create your own piece of silver jewellery using traditional silversmithing techniques, with expert guidance throughout.
Perfect for complete beginners and beyond, the workshop is tailored to suit both of your individual ideas and pace. My cosy studio is located within Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in Swadlincote, Derbyshire — around a 45-minute drive from the Peak District — making this a lovely experience to combine with a countryside escape.
Before the workshop, I’ll arrange a Zoom consultation to plan your designs, so you’ll arrive feeling inspired and ready to create something personal. On the day, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the process, along with a relaxed lunch included as part of the experience.
Each of you can choose what you’d like to make — such as a ring, pendant, earrings or bracelet — or explore something more bespoke. Previous projects have included kilt pins, sea glass jewellery, and remodelling sentimental items into wearable pieces.
I’ll also capture a selection of natural photographs throughout the day, so you will have something to look back on as well as the jewellery you’ve created.

This silver jewellery making workshop is held in my cosy studio, which is located within Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, just a 45 minute drive from the Peak District. (The postcode is DE11 9DG). There is limited free parking at the museum and free all day parking in the local town centre car parks. Alexandra Road car park is a two minute walk from the studio (the postcode is DE11 8JL).
Your tutor:
I have been working as a jeweller and silversmith since I graduated from my degree in 2005, and began teaching early on as a means to support my practice, initially teaching an evening class at Hereford College of Art. I found that I love sharing my skills with people, so I wrote two books ('Making Silver Jewellery' and 'Fold Forming for Jewellers and Metalsmiths’) and created my own range of jewellery making courses. I hope that if you join me here in the studio you will fall in love with this special craft just as I did when I first started making jewellery!
Who can attend:
I welcome all levels of ability including complete beginners. Anyone is welcome to take part so long as they are aged over 18 (or over 14 if accompanied by an adult).
Health & safety tips:
Please tie long hair back and do not wear open toed shoes or high heels. If you struggle with close vision, please remember to bring your glasses with you, I have found this is easily forgotten. If you do have any concerns which might affect you during the workshop, please do get in touch.
